Research Centre for Applied Electromagnetic (Emcenter)

Research Centre for Applied Electromagnetic (Emcenter) regulations on electrical and electronic products marketed in USA, EC, Japan and other countries poses extra challenges to local manufacturers. Failure to comply with the relevant standards will jeopardize exports to these important markets. To avoid non- compliance of finished products, EMC requirements should be considered at all development stages. The EMCcenter of UTHM was set up in July 2001 as the first excellent center in UTHM. The main objective of the center is to perform research on EMC apart from providing compliance and pre-compliance EMC testing facilities for manufacturers to test their products throughout the design and production phases. EMC test will not only reduce the cost of testing failed products but also enhance the development and production capabilities of a company. In addition, the center offers value added services such as consultancy and troubleshooting for failed products. The center is headed by a professor supported by lecturers, tutors, an instructor, technical assistants and technicians. The center is committed towards achieving a nationally recognized institute by the end of 2015.
